Dar Aicha - What a place!

"My wife and I have just returned from Marrakech and the most amazing city break we have had in years!

We were met at the airport by the wonderfully helpful and friendly Samir. Madame Zahra had dinner ready for our arrival which was heaven. The house couldn't be in a more central location for the Souk and the main Jemaa el-Fna square. At night this place has to be experienced as words truly cannot do justice to the wonderful sights smells and sounds. We ate dinner there the second night without issue and it was fantastic! The rest of the time we were out for lunch and ate a tasty dinner at the house before venturing out into the bustle and excitement of the evening. Samir arranged a car to take us to the Atlas mountains one day, arranged currency exchange for us and was always willing to offer advice and help when asked. Whilst there were the expected approaches in the street by hawkers, etc, they were never aggressive and always responded to 'Non Merci' We never felt threatened day or night in or out of the Souk and beggars, etc - who can be very off putting in many cities - were few and far between.

I cannot enthuse enough about the house which was a wonderful cool relaxing oasis right in the heart of the Medina.

I would encourage anyone to go and experience this for themselves. You will love it! Its amazing!"

Dar Aicha proved to be even better than the description. The location was perfect, step out to the souks,or take a short stroll to Jemaa el Fna. We made full use of the home, from lounging on the rooftop, and listening to the call to prayer from the surrounding mosques, to relaxing with wine or tea in the different lounge areas.

The home was immaculate and truly Morrocan. Thank you Madame and Samir for those delicious Moroccan meals. And Samir, what a help he was. He was kind enough to purchase our overnight train tickets from Tanger to Marrakech; he found us taxis when needed and arranged a camel ride, which was quite an experience.

Not like riding a horse that's for sure. We are encouraging family and friends, this is the place to stay if you want freedom and pampering at the same time.

We spent 4 nights at Dar Aicha in April. It was so special to be in the heart of the medina, minutes away from the main square and all its activities and the souks. To be able to retreat from the action and the heat into the cool tranquility of the house and sit down to a traditional meal prepared specially for us made all the difference. I doubt we could have been served so well with zero hassle anywhere else.

Samir was gentle and helpful, ready to assist when needed and leaving us to our own devices at all other times. He was invaluable in arranging our transport to & from the airport and if we'd been staying a little longer we would certainly have arranged an excursion through him.

This is a perfect venue for the uninitiated; truly experiencing the place and its culture with all the help you need if you want to take advantage of it.
